Last week was officially our last week in College Station as residents, and we went out with a bang, in my opinion. Here is a pictoral review of what went down:
Saturday & Sunday: (this part is not very pictorial...)
Karl's parents were visiting from Michigan so we had a big bbq lunch with them and Karl's Aggie Parents. From there Matt and I headed to Houston to find an apartment and hang out with Nate.
We were only successful in one area, hanging with Nate. The apartments turned out to be sketch, after reading some reviews online, so we ended up with nothing. But we did eat dinner at Lupe Tortillas....AMAZING. Matt said they were the best fajitas he had ever had!
The next morning, we joined the Alexander Family (Matt will be working with Chris Alexander at Stress) at Cypress Bible Church. We were welcomed warmly and enjoyed meeting so many friendly and caring people. We look forward to going back once we are officially Houstonians.
Monday:
Here's where it gets good! Started off the day with work....not so fun, but it was the last week, so....whatever. At lunch we had Matt's final "Men's Lunch" at Chic fil a. Since it was his last, they, meaning Chic fil a, threw him a party! We all got free food! Whatever we wanted! We also got these cool hats:
After lunch, we joined the Serpas' and Karl and his parents at the Bluebell factory in Brehnam!
We took the tour (which you can't take pictures of), but then got our free scoops of ice cream! I went with the Happy Tracks and Matt chose Strawberry Cheesecake.
Tuesday:
Tuesday we played our last weekly volleyball game at the Lofts. I actually did a bad job of taking pictures of this....
Wednesday:
Wednesday we did most of our Tetris-playing, aka packing the storage unit! Matt worked so hard! We also headed to Houston, again, to look at some, better rated apartments. Uncle Larry was kind enough to take the time to drive us around and show us some better areas that what we were originally looking at. We think we found the right one this time!
After battling 290 at 5 pm, we finally made it back to CS and headed to dinner with our wonderful friends out at Ian's house. Mary Frances made delicious alfredo (with peas and onions, which we know I never would have thought to do) but it was SO good! We also had bacon wrapped green beans, yum, and Karl's famous oatmeal chocolate chip cookies:
Needless to say, they went pretty quick.
After dinner, we played the "card-on-your-forehead" game.
We had a wonderful last night in CS with our amazing friends. We miss you all already :(
Thursday:
We got up and met the gang at Chic fil a for the last Free-Breakfast-Thursday of the summer. After reluctant good byes we headed back to the apartment to finish the cleaning out process (video to come later). We couldn't have done it without the Serpas' help and especially Ian. He stayed with us all day and even helped with the cleaning! We feel so blessed to have such amazing friends that will help us out! We wouldn't have made it out of town on Thursday if it wasn't for Ian's help.
After cleaning, and taking the last of our stuff to storage, we said bye to everyone again and headed out of town.
As we drove down University, we passed the engineering and business school buildings. It was the perfect way to leave the town we've called home for 5 years. As we started the drive, we caught the end of "We Bleed Maroon" on the radio. Of course, this made me get emotional. Matt said he even got goose bumps. All I know is that Aggieland is a wonderful place and from the outside looking in you can't understand it and the inside looking out, you can't explain it.
